Cell phone games have certainly come a long way from the days of playing “Snake” on our Nokia hand set. The games are more elaborate, ranging from puzzles to adventure games and simulations with graphics and clarity that make us sit up and take notice. Whether you’re using the lower end “free” phones from your mobile carrier or a high-end gaming phone with all the bells and whistles that you purchased from a specialty retailer, the ability to play games is almost always included on today’s mobile devices. Of course, before you can play those games you’ll need to understand how to install them on your cell phone of choice.
The first step in jumping into gaming on your cell phone is determining the mobile operating system your device is using. The top OS choices currently include the iPhone operating system (Visit the Apple Apps store if you are an iPhone user. The Apps store can be found on your device and you will simply search for games, find the game you want to purchase and download it to your device.), Google Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Blackberry operating systems. If your device does not use one of these options, it is probably some form of “proprietary software” that will require specialized download software that is installed on your device for use with your specific carrier.
Visit popular software sites if you are using Blackberry, Windows Mobile or Symbian. There are several certified and highly recommended mobile software sites online. Choose your device from the list of manufacturers and then choose the program you want to install. You can find mobile games by clicking on the “Games” link. In most cases, you will simply download the application onto your device from your mobile phone’s browser and then click on the single install file to install the game. If the game requires a special installation process or certain device hardware and software requirement, you will receive a “readme” file with the game and you’ll need to follow the directions. You can also download the games to your PC and then sync your device with your USB cable and transfer the games onto your device or transfer the game using a Bluetooth connection. The user manual for your phone will give you directions for syncing based on your specific phone’s requirements.
Check with your cellular provider if your phone does not include a popular operating system or if your device is locked to a specific carrier. They will more than likely have their own application stores which will include games. Each carrier locked cell phone will offer its own download processes. If you are unsure about your phones specific operating instructions, contact your carrier or support from the site you downloaded the application from.
Enjoy your new cell phone games but, while playing games on your phone, be responsible and remember your basic phone etiquette still. Don’t ignore those around you in favor of gaming. And, of course, never distract yourself with cell phone games while driving.

You’ve discovered cell phones, you’ve discovered many of them are flashy and you’ve discovered you’re ready to test drive one, but you’re not positive you’re ready for a long term plan. Surprise, to get what you want there’s no requirement to sign up for a long term contract and a prepaid cell phone could be exactly what you need.
Perks of Prepaid Service
Despite the popular belief that prepaid phones are for those who are broke or those without style, prepaid cell phones are an extraordinary investment. After all, there are no contracts. Even with a monthly payment plan, you simply pay for one month and it ends there. It’s just like paying by the minute, except you’ve paid out for an entire month of minutes and it can be renewed at any time.
Budgeting becomes simpler as there will be no unexpected charges at the end of the month, and credit checks and security deposits are obsolete and you can easily add minutes when needed.
What Do You Need?
The first step in obtaining a prepaid cell phone is to first decide what it is you want from your service and your phone. There are many options available and common uses are often included in a plan.
If you’ll be texting, then decide how much you text a day to help in making a decision about whether or not you should invest in a set text limit or go for unlimited texting. After you decide that, the next logical question is, will you be traveling with the phone? Do you visit different towns regularly? If so, will that cause your phone to roam? If you have friends or family out of the country, check for international rates and plans too.
Do you enjoy taking photographs and emailing or texting them to your friends and family? Yes? Then you’ll need a phone with a camera and a plan that allows MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service). What about ringtones? Do you want them, will they be available and will they be inexpensive?
Make a list of the accessories you’d like to go with your phone. Here’s a little to get you started:
Car Charger
Wall Charger
Skin or Case
Hands-free Ear Piece
Where to Go?
Prepaid cell phones can be found everywhere. Major General stores, such as Wal-Mart, corporate dealers, independent dealers and online stores all sell prepaid cell phones. In fact, you can buy a technology adorned phone and still purchase a prepaid plan with most companies.
Take time to research phones and assess prices. You’ll also want to evaluate annual, monthly and prepaid plans. Take home leaflets, print out prices, compare dealers and make a smart choice rather than a rushed decision.
Refresh Yourself
Cell phones are extremely handy devices. They’re perfect for questionable situations and stressful moments (such as when your car breaks down); they provide security and keep you in touch with your loved ones. Refresh yourself and consider a prepaid phone at the very minimum. Keep it charged and keep it handy. There will come a time when you’ll be glad you have your prepaid cell phone, even if you don’t use it on a regular
